Also 1.8 stuff: Spike blocks (spiky pistons?), Chicken (food), ability to “charge” bows, underground ravines, strongholds, NPC villages (which may have not humans, but pigmen inhabiting them!), ruins, iron bars (as seen in the ruins picture), stone bricks (mossy and cracked), growable melons and pumpkins, fully working creative mode, a brightness slider, a “sever list”, critical hits, sprinting, "mushroom biome (not just huge mushrooms, but a whole new biome that generates huge mushrooms), and new sound affects and music (Thanks to C418).
New mobs: pigmen or NPCs (or both), silverfish (they aren't fish but wingless insects that eat away at wood and books that live in dark parts of buildings. Most likely to be enemy), and a new "scary mob" that was mentioned by Jens that may or may not be the mentioned mob bosses or dragons.Go here for the chicken food picture (I would post it but for some reason i cant):

There a long bar below the heath (which may be an experience bar for leveling up) and a bar next to the heath bar with chicken legs on it (which may be a “hunger bar” showing that in adventure mode you may need to eat food to stay full).
