Hmmmmmmm… Okay. I split this into a new thread because I think there is a distinction in PvP, it’s not exactly plain and simple.
I think PvP can be broken down in two ways, and each would be very different, and would use the servers differently as well…
PvP MAP: Basically there would be no additional plugins running. Just people running around on the map and killing eachother for fun. This would run on the main server, and have no fly, etc as Guibo suggested.
PvP Server: This is how I played PvP in the past. Basically it allows clans, so groups of people can get together and just fight wherever, there is raiding, etc. There is more involvement to this, and a lot more plugins to add. This would replace the FTB server.
I think both have their downsides and benefits, so curious to what you guys think is the better option. I know we have a small population of FTB players that shouldn’t be discounted so please join in.
When I get a chance I will go more in detail about what each one exactly entails.
I’m creating the faction setup locally as we speak, because that’s personally what I’m in favor for. Though I’m down for either as the other one would be a lot easier hahaha.

Wasnt there an issue with Factions a few years back (or when the server first went up)? I honestly dont care for either. I have turned away from PVP recently
I don’t quite understand the point of needing a whole separate server for factions. PCB has HAD factions in the past and every time, it has failed badly. People say they want to join factions, they do, then the wars of these factions stop within a day or so.
Why is it difficult to allow factions within survival itself? or at the very least, on a separate map?
If we do try this, I hope we attempt it on a test server first rather than replacing FTB. I want to see if people actually use it at all. Hardcore had players for less than a week.
I will not remove any of the FTB files, there is plenty of room on the server. I am thinking of running a test week or something. The problem is that it is a lot more stress on the server potentially
I feel like the reasons factions have not worked in PCB past (at least in my memory; i’m not sure if we used an actual plugin before I joined) is that they have been self-created organizations without a plugin attempting to operate in PCB’s non-griefing world. Wars do not work because somebody’s property gets damaged and needs to be rolled back. Factions aren’t as easy to organize without a plugin. I’m not advocating the plugin part as much, but our survival world is not geared towards PVP in it’s current state, which is why having a separate server (or map) without any rules towards griefing, PVP, etc would make such an arrangement more functional.
factions are made for protecting items buildings etc from other players/griefers.
You do not need factions to have pvp battles or wars against other teams.
I think this is not really needed atm and we have enough conflicts already.
this server will probably also end up not being used in 1 month.
Bairly anyone plays on the FTB server so why would they want to join a faction server when their are plenty of badass faction servers already that they can play on. and why the hell would anyone wanna warp to a completely different map to kill someone. I’m taking it that warping back to regular survival is a safezone meaning people who dont want to die are just gonna warp back. I think its a stupid waist of time.
