The Federation is just a group based around a handful of cities. A server fully dedicated to factions is so much better.

Im going to just throw this out there, so that everyone can think about it. If we do do a Faction PVP server, there will be a huge clash with our current SMP server rules, and there will need to be a new set of rules and regulations that are drawn up to compliment it. We will also need to be vigilant as staff to make sure that the rules are not mixed up between servers. Some people dont pay attention, and think that cause its ok on one server, its is on another.

Indeed, we’ll have to update the rules and add a new section.

  • we’ll need to change the description on the server lists or we won’t attract new players.

If we do this, I will dedicate mostly entirely on the PvP Clan Server (We need to find a nice descriptive name), I guess Meta will as well.

We might have a hard start as well at the beginning, people will not join an empty faction server.

Would be cool as well to know what the Clan plugin entails.

I’ll help, but I have the same issue as Guibo, that’s that a text to the USA will be a bit on the expensive side.

The FTB server has been stopped. The pvp server is now running on 198.23.241.131 which is the old IP for FTB

So if you want to help me figure out permissions etc that would be sick

I am also not pleased with FTB going down… John stated that he would attempt to run FTB for us, but I have NO idea if he even can. I don’t know his system’s specs, upload, OS etc. I would also have liked for there to be an actual transition. FTB should only be down for a short time while transferring.

I just want to point out that there was no poll for interest in a pvp server. I see a few members hyped about it, but many also stated it would be a waste of time. Especially (but not only) since it would take FTB down…

More are welcome and I will be making the installation process even easier shortly. I was planning on installing updates today/tonight as I have the next day off.

Edit: I now have a copy of the current map. I may host it till another server is set up. I can also host the map for John if he needs. I want to work with you guys, not around ya.

The server is doing really well so far. Lots of clans are being formed and more people/new players are coming online. The only problem I’ve run into is that I can’t move my clan home once it’s been set, when staff can.

Just wanted to post that Sip and I met in game and chatted. He says he feels guilty for closing FTB as he did. If John does not manage to get FTB up (or at least message us), he will move it to his laptop once more.

This may or may not be an ideal setup, but it’s better than just pulling the plug on a server people do play on.

FTB is my project. Clearly, I care about taking care of it. I just can’t run the server on my internet connection well. Anyone can still message me about issues with the PVP server. I can still maintain it.

I can host a server but i have 3 major problems.

  1. All my ports were closed (idk how or why)
  2. I dont know the new password so i can open the ports.
  3. My computer is about 7 years old O.o

Then no, you can’t host the server, if you can’t even forward your ports. Pretty much strikes out all criteria for hosting a server xD

3 sounds like the issue here.

Requirements:
-Linux (possibly preferred) or Windows 7+
-64 bit OS
~6 gigs of RAM available
-multi-core CPU 3+ Ghz
-An Upload speed of at least 10 mb/s.
