Shortly, it will be 31 days until the release of Fallout 4. Is anyone going to get it?
Here’s what we know so far:
[ul][li]Takes place in Boston, Massachusetts[/li]
[li]Story starts pre-war[/li]
[li]You probably have a child wandering round[/li]
[li]The in-game pip boy can be controlled via a phone app[/li]
[li]You can construct your own settlements, and come up with systems to defend them from raider attacks[/li][/ul]
I would first get CoD: Black Ops III for the Xbox One. Then a few months later, I will get Fallout 4 for the same console.
Why? Call of Duty games are released every year, and I stopped playing after CoD: Black Ops II. I would expect this game to be the same as Advanced Warfare but better. If I get a CoD game a few months after it’s released, everyone will start talking about the next installment, and people would stop playing CoD: Black Ops III. That’s why I’m getting a CoD game before a Fallout game. Fallout on the other hand, has a new installment every 8 years or so, and I could play Fallout 4 without the worry of buying a new Fallout game. I’ve heard about the hype of Fallout 4, but I’ve never played a Fallout game, and Fallout 4 may be a game that I should have played since the launch date. Who knows what will happen?
Yes the story lines are linked, but you don’t need to play them all to get whats going on. The fallout games are different in the fact of different characters in different cities and surviving the apocalypse. basically the “background” story, I.E. how the fuck it all started (presumably Fallout 4) and how it begins to end [details=“Spoiler”]with creating a pure water source, project purity,[/details] and hopefully rebuilding the nation (Fallout 3), is really how they’re linked.
Fallout is my all time favorite game series from 1 to 3 and even new vegas. I have already pre-ordered it on xbox one and am super fucking excited for it.
I really want FO4. I never got too deep into Fallout (I own NV), but the fact that I’m a Bostonian, Fallout 4 would be perfect for me. Everything about it looks great so far (except, of course, the price.)
I might not get it the day it is released (still thinking) but rather wait for one of steam’s infamous blowout sales. (Christmas sale, wink wink)
If anyone does get it, let me know if its any good. (Leave out spoilers)
Bethesda games are always quite expensive, but you will probably never completely finish the game, as there is such a ridiculous amount of content in it.
I witnessed survivor 2299 controversy. I’ve been waiting for this for years. I bought a new computer just to run it. I would happily sacrifice my first born child and walk through 10 miles of minefields just to watch the games intro sequence. Ah you think hype is your ally? You merely adopted the hype. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t see the trailer until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding!
I know that. Of course it’ll be worth every penny, but I’d rather get it a month later for a huge discount. Fallout games have always been a good size, and Fallout 4 is huge. Some say that the map is the size of skyrim (without the mountains, which got in our way A LOT). It looks like Game of the Year so far.
And for those who like going a bit over the top, there might be some hope that a few pip-boy editions become available at midnight, as some people didn’t pay their pre-orders.
Also, there are rumors that a few are lying around at some retailers, and they are just waiting until the release, or that Bethesda didn’t send out the exact number of editions they will have on stock, so they just sold a small guess number. Wouldn’t count on that tough.
Anyways, happy hunting and wandering.
(Also, here’s a nice page with all the merchandise, editions and that shinny stuff for fallout 4, in all their versions for any platform and retailer, and it’s quite handy to keep track of the stocks)
Been playing it all day. It’s full of bugs, but unlike in most other bethesda games, they were easily fixed (closing game down, restarting pc, etc.) Otherwise, i’m quite enjoying it. Don’t turn it on the hardest difficulty though, without sounding arrogant i’d say im really good at fallout as i’ve played a lot of new vegas, but it turns into a major bullet sponge. Lets just say it took me 750 5mm bullets to kill someone that only took 100 in 3 or new vegas.
Preordered for the PS4. Heard about bad FPS issues, but that’s commonplace for a Bethsoft game on Playstation. I’ll still play the everliving shit out of it, and be ecstatic when these issues are patched. Also have not looked at a single piece of leaked info; going in completely blind!
