…Lately I’ve noticed some “jokes” going on in the chat, or in Team Speak… I’m honestly extremely disgusted and quite upset, along with so many other emotions…
So I’m apologizing in advance for the rant… bare with me… Holocaust “jokes”
No! This is not, by any means okay! The vicious slaughter of 6 million innocent people, is NOT funny! It is disrespectful!
There may be people on the server who’s relatives were somehow involved with the holocaust… I am one of them!
Please have respect for the other people on the server. Have respect for what happened during the holocaust! It is not “funny”! It is DISGUSTING!
Rape “jokes”
Again… Not okay! Do not be ignorant to the issue that is rape.
You do not know what people have gone through, you do not understand the mental state of rape survivors. Your “joke” about rape… is triggering. Rape is not funny, Sexual assault is not funny, anything along those lines is not funny!

Muslim “jokes”
This is a serious issue in society. Not all Muslims are terrorist’s, nor are they all going to kill us if we don’t convert to the Muslim religion. I personally am a Christian, I have nothing wrong with other religions. I have RESPECT for other peoples beliefs and decisions. Please be respectful to religions. I understand if you are not of the religion, I understand if you are simply not religious, I really don’t care what you believe, but I have respect for your religion. Religion is a EXTREMELY sensitive subject, I personally do not think it should even be talked about on the server. Especially if we can’t respect others beliefs.
In conclusion;
I understand you may think I’m being “sensitive”, I am but I’m also not. I am because these “jokes” hurt me and possibly many others. I am being sensitive to the issues that are in society. I am not because, I’m not complaining because somebody “hurt my feelings”, no! I’m complaining because I think that it is a very serious problem. If I don’t speak up who will? These issues need to be acknowledged and figured out!
I’m not going to say names because I don’t want to call people out…yet…
But I think that respect needs to in the server to other people.
Note that I’m not trying to attack anyone, simply bring notice to this very serious, very real issue…

I think I’m speaking on all of the PCB staff’s behalf
Jokes are jokes, theyre made to be funny but some simply aren’t. People get offended at a joke meanwhile others laugh. Some jokes like these can cross the line, and I myself like jokes like these but if it bothers someone, and they speak against it the jokes should stop. If someone makes a joke you dont like, message a staff member and we can calm the situation. Overexcessive uses of these jokes have led to bans in the past, so just message myself or any other staff member and we will do our job.
Rule of thumb: Jokes are okay, just dont be offensive. If your joke is offensive and you are asked to stop, please stop.
Lauren, I am too disgusted when hearing these kinds of jokes. I think it is better for those jokes to be kept in private, or know who's in chat before making offensive remarks. It isn't casual to use these in chat, but I've heard them several times. I would never use the jokes I hear in T.S., and whenever I do, I'm not proud of it, I'm disgusted.
This should be how these situations are handled, regarding jokes or anything else in all walks of life. If something upsets you, ask them to stop and they should stop.
If not, there will be consequences, simple as that. The moment you ignore the request to stop, the issue potentially becomes harassment which is against the rules.
Indeed, I believe the same as the OP when it comes to PCB as a whole. Private PMs between friends is fine if both are fine with the content, but we are a family friendly server (while allowing some cursing). Keep it within reason and be mindful of others.
PPL need reminders of this IRL more often than they should.
I once purposed a total ban on discussions related to sexual orientations and religions. I wouldn’t mind including the other topics that have been mentioned in this thread.
It’s a general rule that should go without saying: don’t be a dick. If you think people will get offended, it’s probably not a good idea to say it. Conversely, just because some people disagree or find some offence with what’s been said, it doesn’t mean they ought to be excluded and banned.
I appreciate the response on this topic. I think we could further discuss consequences about these things.
All in all, We need to be respectful.

I think that placing a formal ban on certain forms of speech is overkill and unnecessary. This is the Internet, not anyone’s personal safe space. I do however, think that people should use common sense, not be assholes, and try to be adults. If someone says something that simply rubs you the wrong way or you disagree with, well, sorry, but that’s life. However, when someone pushes something too far and abuses freedom of speech it becomes slander or verbal assault. Anything in that domain is obviously not okay. But really, I think the vast majority of people know where the line is and not to cross it. If someone does cross a line, we solve that on a case by case basis as we have done for years. Just use common sense guys, but don’t flip shit on everything either. - my $0.02
I’ve been hopping on from time to time lately and as many of the seniors here know I do not hold back my own language nor do I watch what boundaries I’m crossing when it comes to offensive subjects.
If anyone has a problem with what I say, do speak up. Don’t be worried by the fact I’m a SOP, I’m just a retired veteran with a twisted sense of humor looking for some awful houses to build.
Even if you were, the school has no right to take any action against you for something that happens outside of school unless it has a negative impact on other students.
And Nazi jokes or serious discource alike, all schools that i know of teach that there should be no wrong answer and everything is subjective and should be open to free form discussion (constructive) so censoring topics because they deviate from what ‘society’ considers ‘normal’ or ‘grounded’ is contradictory of the very thing they teach.
