May I subtract… as wonderful as /ignore is, it would be nice if people thought a bit about what they were saying.

May I suggest this turns into a name-and-shame thread. If someone thinks someone else has gone too far, name them on this thread.
But then again my worst nightmare would be for this to become formal, so no formal rules on not budging when you’ve been named, and none of the ban-appeal style “oh yeah I hate this guy too, let’s tell him that”.

No, we absolutely wont be naming and shaming. As the famous proclamation goes - “This is the internet” - that means you can either confront the person or use /ignore.
If you have an issue publicly naming and shaming them isn’t the way to go about it. Submit a player report if there is an ongoing issue and a staff member isn’t available to resolve the issue at the time.
Some things aren’t solved by /ignore Sometimes We should actually enforce rules on what people say in the chat. Just my opinion.
Well, if someone is directly offending you, practicing racism or any other serious bad behave you should report to staff. But still, we can’t enforce rules, basically, if someone is saying something you don’t like go with /ignore or /swearblock, cause, as stated before, this is internet and we have freedom of speech.
That is true and I for one love ignoring people as opposed to arguing with them, saves me such a headache. However, sometimes just because you ignore them doesn’t mean what they say won’t affect you. It should be the staff’s job to ensure that the chat is a tolerable place for everyone and no one is made to feel harassed or bothered by anyone else.
Precisely what I would’ve said. We are not in the business of publicly shaming anyone and no one should have to fear for garnering unwanted attention. We have a player report function and even if someone is intimidated by that, they are always welcome to send one of the staff a private message. We’d be more than happy to resolve matters privately.
This bit is off-topic but I just want to say please don’t post +1, +2, etc to other posts. It’s needless spam that clouds up a discussion and we already have an upvote/downvote system that can be used to show support. Thank you.
