1.8 Creative Transport

Hello citizens of PCB!

During the creative map which is being reset shortly, there was an explosion of transport networks. This ended up being messy and confusing, so for this map we’re stepping in and sorting things out.

Here are the top 5 things you need to know:

[ul][li]ALL inter-city transport will be coordinated by PCBT[/li]
[li]Any unauthorised transport networks will be removed or incorporated into the current network[/li]
[li]PCBT will have a series of primary transport projects, these will be built entirely by the PCBT build team[/li]
[li]Regional transport will also be co-ordinated by PCBT, for example Airports or Ferry terminals[/li]
[li]Transport networks entirely within a city are the responsibility of the city owner[/li][/ul]
The build team is comprised of the old NR and PCBSub teams, we’re now working together to produce a far superior network.

This project is being led by Octo, Amphi, AG, Mark, Javi and Waiora.

Just to reiterate: We’d rather not nuke your hard work, but if you don’t follow the rules it may be removed
Thank you,
PCB Staff

Current map of the PCBRail network is as below (version 3.5, correct as of 26 August 2015)

Octo this is a fabulous idea to make PCB a cleaner and a more efficient server.

I would also like to join the PCBT Builder team to! Mark, Master Spllat and you and trusted have seen my work already. I would love to be invited to join the Builder Team.

Many thanks

Requesting to bring my skills to both the creative and rancho maps regarding transportation networks as a part of this team.

The roads… oh god the roads.

IT’S STARTING AGAIN, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES.

As we are in the early stages of sorting out who, what, and where (and possibly when, how and why), we’re not currently accepting build requests as of now. Fili, I’d assume the Rancho map is under your control, I’d think we’d trust you enough to handle transport there.

@YoshiBoy13

There will be… soon xD

Octo and I are working on the underground layount, and AGx and I are working on the surface-level layout.

I was about to bother asking that the glorious PCBT kindly consider me to be added to this or some other subservient build team or advisory commission or whatever, but then Amphi’s reply popped up. Still, considering that I pretty much spent my spare hours in the Creative map on mindlessly digging tunnels, you guys would otherwise put me out of a job. :stuck_out_tongue:

It was hard enough getting two certain people to agree on a road style in this map (in fact, it’s yet to be resolved - they agreed to disagree…for now). To get the entire server to come to a consensus? I bid thee luck.

One thing you probably can reach an agreement on is which side of the road to drive on. There are a couple of transition spots on the current creative map that involve a switch and they are executed quite poorly, in my opinion.

To be honest, a couple of rail systems popped up in this map because I/Amphi were a bit too slow responding with NR construction, so people ended up building their own systems that were not up to NR standards for interconnection, and we thus had to build duplicate lines (and in some cases, duplicate stations as well) to reach those cities, which were often crucial stops on a route to further cities (and thus we couldn’t just “skip” a city).

So I would advise that PCBT respond to inquiries ASAP, lest impatient, ignorant players (who did not read this thread) decide to take matters into their own hands (creating more cleanup work for you, and probably creating a big, bickering mess out of the player in question as you attempt to explain the regulated policies of PCBT).

I would also advise that some form of eminent domain be established. Several of my routes in the current map had to take some nasty detours that are unfortunately a necessary evil. If PCBT could draft routes ahead of time (and communicate thoroughly with city owners to establish corridors and clearances), this could be minimized.

Hello guys, I agree with Zwinky that this is a great idea, and not only will it make PCB Creative easier to navigate through, it will also be less of a pain in the ass to go through and see a random flying ‘‘train station’’ with no supports whatsoever. I believe this is a great project universally speaking, and I am especially fond of the rules. Others may find them ‘‘mean’’ or even ‘‘stupid’’ but IMO its really the only way to stop a big shithole of mine cart stations or ‘‘trains’’. It is nice how the staff are working together, and figuring this out. That makes a great team, for a great server.

I was also thinking I would apply for the PCBT team in the near future, once you guys figure everything out.

Quick question - if there were two similar-in-style towns, run by the same person, quite close to each other, would they be allowed to connect them by rail without applying for planning permission first?

  • Because HighLordMax forgot his forum account password or something.

Stuff like that will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We may do a short line (Like the Waterloo and City line), or connect it an existing line.

EDIT: While we’re still not accepting build team membership requests, we’d like to invite the following players to join us if they wish.

Those mentioned above, please send me a PM on the website if you’re on board for being on our team.

~PCBT Team

Not little old me?

I know this is going to sound worse than not including you, but I actually forgot to add you to the list ;D We were talking about nationalizing highways as well! Welcome to the forgetful team!

Not sure if you got the PM or not Amphi, as it seems the Send PM doesn’t work. I PM’ed somebody once, they never got the PM. As for the PCBT Build Team, I will happily join

Important Announcement Part 2:

We’ve decided to regulate inter-city highways as well. Same rules apply as before.

Also, if our theme doesn’t fit your town, it won’t be modified. For example: If you have a medieval town, it’s probably not a good idea to have a station or road.

I’m in, sent Ampi the pm.

Can I join this project?

I didn’t really understand this part of the thread. Are town owners allowed to make their own airports if the town/airport is far from every other town?

“Road Styles” Do you mean the general patterns? bc there are like, hundreds of paved road patterns

We mean how the roads look. I don’t know what you’re specifying by “general patterns,” but I think we’re on the same page here.
