I have always thought about this for people who are 15+ if your friends still know you play good old Minecraft. As many of us know, back in 2011 Minecraft was the craze, now its something viewed by our age range as something that is childish and rubbish.
I know for sure that nobody knows I play this game still. So does everyone here keep this a secret from your friends?
I’m going to make a poll to see just for curiosity! Please say below why you keep it secret or not
Aside from friends at also play Minecraft, most of my good friends know, and still make fun of me for it (in the lighthearted, friendly sense). I tell them all the time not to talk about it in front of other people, just because I’m so afraid of the negative stigma attached to the game’s community, but a couple of them do anyways.
I really wish people appreciated the game for what it is and we didn’t have to be so weird about playing it. If the nine year olds hadn’t taken control, I think I’d be a lot more about about playing MC.
Some of my friends know - that being all the ones who also play a lot of video games. But as far as I can tell, it isn’t the game that makes them not want to play, but the community which do play, which is a LOT younger than it was 5-6 years ago when the game 1st blew up.
I liked how accepting the community was when Mojang first made Minecraft. Now, I am irritated by the common occurrence of 10 year olds playing online with adults. At least players aren’t restricted from creating buildings of their choice.
This rise in popularity leading to younger players joining a game’s once older community seems quite similar to another franchise (Call of Duty).
Rarely talk to anybody outside of PCB, so while none of my friends know that I still play it, it’s not because I’m keeping it a secret. (Only have a couple ‘friends’, and I only seem them a few times a year.)
Recently started new job as a night stock employee at a grocery store, and my three co-workers during the shift all play video games as well. Minecraft hasn’t come up, but even if it did I doubt they’d care.
Getting on PCB to talk to people is literally the only thing I use Minecraft for anymore, it’s more of a small forums with live chat than anything else, for me. Plus some visual gags or small games in-game, but that’s pret much it.
I don’t play that often, but when I do, I say to others that i’m doing something else, like homework.
For a 17-year-old it feels kinda embarrassing to say i still play Minecraft (don’t feel judged or anything)
I wasn’t even aware there was some sort of negative stigma attached to minecraft in regards to age. I’m 22 but don’t care if someone knows I play minecraft.
I’m not quite there (20). My older brother plays occasionally and he’s 25.
I think the “stigma” that surrounds it is the obsession younger plays have. The quality of memes regarding roblox and minecraft players is dank.
I say 10-17/18 because at 17/18 years people realize that it isnt that retarded and it is ur own life and u can live it however u want. This is my point of view.
