This forum post will house any major events/updates that the city and kingdom of Tulpfloerdam has. This is also just a place for TFD9 (Tulpfloerdam’s news network) to keep the server updated on current Tulpfloerdamse events.

The ‘Oosterpoort’ (Eastern Gate), which is currently used as an entrance/border crossing to the Kingdom of Tulpfloerdam, will be demolished and rebuilt in its old former state. The old Oosterpoort was washed away in a river flood in 1965. This gate was supposed to be used as a temporary gate. The current gate has never been dismantled since its conception in 1966.
It is only now that the old and traditional form of the gate will be rebuilt. The oldest form of the Oosterpoort was constructed in 1655, make it the tallest building in the city for its time. Due to the poor foundation of the building, the gate was used to being badly damaged during the rainy and flood season.
The old gate shows heavy inspiration from the Waterpooter, a 15th century gate, located in Sneek, Friesland, The Netherlands.

Update: The Oosterpoort has been fully restored to its former glory. Sitting on the banks of the Rivier-Tulpen, the wider arch allows for more water to flow through the river which causes less flooding issues further up the stream and in the downtown area.
