Tony Abbott isn’t prime minister anymore! HOORAY FOR US AUSSIES
A vote was called to oust him from leadership and Malcolm Turnbull won 55 - 45. Finally I can breathe some relief now that that fucking idiot is gone from parliament.
It’s a shame, I liked the Liberals, and this is bound to be a shakeup to how they perform in the next election.
I’m not thinking straight, this is a great thing. The public will vote more for the Liberals when they’re not voting for Abbott.
On a serious note though; Malcolm Turnbull is quite likely to win the next election, now I don’t support any particular politically party, because quite frankly, I think Australian politicians are all fucked, but I can see the LNP Coalition putting pressure on Turnbull to be more conservative than his personal values have shown he actually is.
I can see more conservative members of the LNP pushing for a hard stance on issues like climate change and marriage equality, issues where Turnbull has previously spoken quite progressively about. He is an open supporter of marriage equality, and i’m sure he’d love to push it through parliament, but I can see that turning very sour for him, very quickly. I do think, however, he would be able to allow a conscience vote, without any major backlash, thereby seeing Australia’s marriage equality laws enter the 21st century.
I have previously only voted for the ALP but come next election, I may reconsider who my vote will actually be going to. At this stage, Im likely to vote Green, as if the candidate doesn’t get in, preferential voting will divert to the ALP anyway. However, if Turnbull is able to force a more progressive LNP to emerge from this cuffufle more open minded (and I can’t believe i’m saying this), I may actually vote liberal cringe.
Anyway, long story, other fellow Australians, please post your political thoughts ;D
As I look back, I personally believe that our (Australia’s) political system is shit.
Think about it, over the past approximate 5 years we’ve had 5 Prime Ministers, that gives us 1 Prime Minister (Leader) per year. It’s like what the f**k?
Secondly, like many leaders our leaders are self-serving people, they don’t care about the public, they only care about themselves. Take Brownyn Bishop for example, spent $5000 on a helicopter ride from Melbourne to Geelong (approximately) 75km - I could’ve flown to Europe with that much or perhaps fly Business Class to Tokyo and stay in a 4/5 Star Hotel. Another example is our (in)famous treasurer, Joe Hockey, who stayed in his wife’s house in Canberra and still claimed rent from taxpayers money for it! (almost $200/night) - it’s like I can stay in a 5 star hotel. They even planning to deregulate HECS - it’s like WTF? Do you want to cut Australia’s ‘future’ away? Cut off science and research funding? They still haven’t tackled important issues such as:
[ul][li]Global Warming - look at this for example: [/li][/ul]

And to quote Abbott: “Wind Farms are ‘visually awful’” - It’s like do you even care about the planet anymore?
[ul][li]Research and Development[/li]
[li]and the list goes on[/li][/ul]
Still Abbott even stuffed the NBN (National Broadband Network).
But still that’s a huge rant from me, anyone other opinions?
