I think this is a good idea not only does it make more people just slay mobs and grind it reinforces the aspect of PLAYER VS ENVIROMENT.
We removed mob rewards late last year for a few reasons. We found that quite a few players were building mob grinders and would earn large amounts of money for no effort at all. We were seeing players with $50-$80k all the time. What this did was unbalance the economy. The prices of most goods plummeted to the extent that most blocks could be bulk purchased quite cheaply. We were seeing structures being built with the entire flooring made from diamond/iron/gold blocks. Players were giving away money because they had so much, which essentially made it a pointless existence.
Also as there was no limit on how many mobs you could kill, players were spending a majority of their time on the server trying to kill mobs.
We looked into a number of solutions to this problem. We placed a limit where you could not earn mob rewards within 10 blocks from a spawner. But when we did this, players would make their mob spawner larger and go outside the block limit. We considered lowering the reward amounts you could earn, but that would end up disadvantaging the players who would kill mobs normally.
After we turned off mob rewards, we changed to a quest structure. We had quests you could start once a day where you had to kill 10 creepers, 10 skeletons, 10 zombies etc. for a reward. The take up of these quests were very low and it clearly didn’t work.
The way our economy is structured now is that there is a limit on how much “free” money you can earn a day; $100 for voting on for the server. You can also earn money by selling diamonds or emeralds to the admin shop (at prices low enough where you have to consider whether it is worth selling at all), which are considerably harder to accumulate. Whilst this does make it harder to earn money, we have found that shop prices are relatively stable.
Last of all, you should keep in mind that the economy will always be more of a second option to actually playing the game. We are trying to make it so that if you want an item, you have to consider whether you are willing to part with your limited money to buy it, or if you should go any try and mine/craft/find it on the map.
No. Special explained it very well above. I kinda wish the quest system still existed to some extent. That really could have been fun if we had authors make new quests.

Quests are still there. We just haven’t built the building in spawn yet
So if i went ahead and made some quests, could they possibly be placed into the server?
As long as you have it in the right format that I can paste the code straight into the quest.yml file. I think we are using qquests

Hell, i was thinking about learning Java at one point to write a code for a Wallet idea… but i never got around to it.
It was going to make it so you had to buy a wallet that would hold a certain amount of money, and then to get the next wallet upgrade, you had to fill your wallet up just to get that next upgrade, once the wallet is full, you couldn’t accumulate more money…
Ok listen to your ideas but have some ideas
1st: Instead of limiting it to block distance why don’t u limit it to how many u can kill for reward and make a low reward for doing so, still add a little extra money.
2nd: the quest is a good idea, maybe each town could have an option to have quests, which offer rewards such as items/amour or in game money?
3rd: sorry was inactive for awhile so wasn’t sure what happen to the mod.
Or maybe we could look at other ways of which money could be obtained but in smaller amounts?
and get these quests done soon i want to see the finished “product”
