I was attempting to set up a server for me and a few friends and I keep running into one problem… When I go to turn on the server using the googled ip address, it tells me the port is being used, I know that this is because I need to port forward but my problem with this is that I do not know my Verizon user, password to log into the router to port forward… Basically, is there any way around port forwarding? or at least just having to use the Verizon page?
Nope if you want your friends to join you have to port forward, Ask you dad/mom for the login or have then do it for you

Verizon has done internet for multiple years. Hell their data network is INTERNET. Their cell towers have huge data pipes into the, if you want me to get those speeds I can.
Usually, the default password will work to access your router. If you don’t know it, you can look online for what it is. The easy way to reset your password on the router is usually to press a button on the device itself. You will likely need a pin to reach that button.
All in all, it is pretty easy to break into you own router.
This website: http://portforward.com/ has a program that automatically port forwards for you.
EDIT: The software costs $29.95 so It’s probably not worth it unless someone has put it on mediafire or something.
If it’s to do with opening/closing ports, I wouldn’t trust a program from a non-verifiable source to do it. That has the potential to cause all sorts of security risks
If its just for you and some mates and you cant get round the port forwarding, then use hamachi, it fools your router to think that the pc also connected to your hammachi server are actualy on your network, its free and easy to set up

it is quite the pain in the ass yes, use it in a ‘will of your soul to the devil’ kindof way.
I USE HAMACHI!!! =D lol, well, i have my networks blocked from accepting new people unless i know im about to have a friend join, then i open it for like 3-5 mins and reclose =)
