[size=15pt]Chapter 3

The sunlight almost made it look like the stained glass was dancing on the marble cathedral floor. As Shadowmeire walked inside, he saw that the size of the outside of the building made it look small, compared to the enormous room that was before him. On his left a was a library, it seemed to touch the heavens, thousands of tomes and scrolls lined the walls. Many were set on pedestals, and even more were in the laps and writing desks of scholars and business men alike, all going about their daily life. In front of him was the sign in desk to this same library. Snaking up the wooden banister was a decorative flower made of mythril, its silver glow only helped accentuate the beauty in this room. On the upper floors appeared to be rooms for vagabonds and bards who visited the cathedral. The red carpet that led up the stairs winded and twisted its way into each room.

“Wait here, ill be right back with a set of clothes”, the young girl Shadow had met near the river turned around and disappeared. Before he was scorned by some old man about desecrating the church, he swiftly walked behind a door that was creaked open behind him, waiting for her to return.

While he was sitting there he got a good look at what laid ahead of him. Past the sign in desk was the entrance to the worship center. The marble floor descended down into this part of the church, rows upon rows of pews laid out facing a simple oak podium. A knarled elf stood there, swinging his arms out, sometimes pointing his fingers, sometimes a fist would come crashing down. The people in the pews bowed their heads, as if meditating during the whole sermon. Shadow couldn’t hear what was being said, the elf’s preforming the sermon had too deep of a voice, and it was too far away.
“ANNNNNDDDD I’m Back!”, she had finally returned, a long white robe in her hands whit a small tunic, and leggings. A pair of sandles and a belt finished off the outfit.

“Thanks”, Shadow scurried to put the clothing on. While he had been sitting there, a few of the older men had stared in his direction, shaking their heads, beards wagging too and fro as they did so. The clothes were a bit big, but they were warm, something that was a welcome change to the bitter chill of the wind outside. The tunic came down to his waist, just enough he couldn't tuck it into the leggings, so the belt merely held them on. The sandals were worn, as if may miles had been put into them, the leather straps were frayed here and there, and had patches from obvious over exposure to the sun. The robe itself was large, a white hood hung on his neck, red teardrop shapes were sewed into the hood. Finally comfortable in his own skin, he looked at her, “ Ok young lady, what is your name. And where is this Aeris gentleman so that I can thank him properly?”

“OH! We haven't been properly introduced have we?”, she looked down a bit embarrassed for her lapse in courtesy. “Im Elanor. Aeris is.... ummm...” she looked around, searching for him. “ AH he's right there”, she pointed at the old elf at the podium, still ranting and raving at his own sermon. “Come on, its easier to get a hold of him if we are in the pews for when he gets up to leave.” She tugged on his arm enthusiastically, dragging him to the center of the worship area.

They walked down the steps, under a magnificent chandelier that he had missed for the overhanging archway in the entrance, and straight down the center of the pews. She looked around, spotted someone and sat between 2 young elves, and a young woman who couldn't have been more than seventeen. The one young elf couldn't have been more than twenty, blonde spiky hair stood straight up on a chiseled face. His green eyes seems to gleam in the darkened room. He wore a pair of gauntlets, fitting a piece of studded leather armor, a simple tunic underneath had its left sleeve ripped off from a battle. The hilt of a massive zanbatō sat at his feet, and ran half the length of the pew. A pair of leather greaves finished his attire. Overall he had a very earthy composure, he saw Shadowmeire standing at the end, scooted over and patted the seat of the pew, a smirk on his face. His companion, another elf was the polar oppisite. Sad blue eyes were framed by long, fiery red hair. A scar from a sword slash hid underneath his bangs on the left side of his face. There as no armor, however a huge double bladed battle axe sat at his side. In contrast to his looks, he gave off a very hot, battle ready composure, like a cat ready to strike. It gave Shadowmeire the feeling that this was a person you did not want to piss off. The girl at the end was gorgeous. Her green eyes and soft face, were framed by her shoulder length blue hair. A v-cut black tunic came all the way down to her waist, she had an archer's bracer on her right arm, and two small daggers on her left leg. She had a very calming feeling, as she was listening to the sermon, stroking Elanor's hair while listening. Shadow slipped in next to the blonde haired man.

“Thanks for the seat!’, he said, thankful he didn’t make his stand there. He flipped the robe in between his legs and sat next to him

“Yeah, not a problem, any friend of Elanor’s is welcome to sit with us”, he held his hand out, “ By the way, im Elk, the guy next to me is Ferio, and that…” he pointed to the woman with Elanor, “is Yumi.”

“Nice to meet you, I’m Shadowmeire” He shook Elk’s hand, Ferio just scoffed and kept listening to the service

Elk rolled his eyes and continued,“Your just in time for the good part!”

“Oh yeah? What is that?” Shadow raised an eyebrow, really curious what fortune had befallen him

“The end”, at that he, and the rest of the room bowed their heads, listening to the service’s conclusion

Shadow wasn’t listening to the prayer. His head hurt, he was thirsty, and extremely hungry. He wasn’t sure how long it had been since his last meal, and he hadn’t drank anything, albeit the water orbs that Elanor had used to throw at him to clean him off a bit. He also wanted a proper bath. He was thankful for the clothes, but he was still a bit uncomfortable with blood still being stuck to the end of his hair. When the prayer was finished, the five of them got up, along with the rest of the group, and bowed towards the alter that was hidden by the podium. “OK! Ferio, Yumi, what are we doing now?”, Elk was extremely eager to get going, obviously worship was not his cup of tea. He picked up his zanbatō, leaned it on his shoulder, and started to walk up the stairs and under the entrance arches.

“Elk, we need to get ready to leave tomorrow, after that we can do whatever you want. We are getting up early, we've spent to much time in Nimloth as is. A fortnight is WAY to long for my taste.” Ferio had a very.... blunt way of putting things.
Shadow was going to listen to more, but Elanor tugged him towards Aeris

“Master! Master Aeris!” Elanor trotted up to the old elf, he leaned on a staff that had wings on either side of a circle on the top, a leather grip just under it.

“Ah, Elanor.” He turned to greet her. “How was your telekinesis training today?”, his voice was
hoarse from his sermon.

Elanor chuckled. “It went really well today sir. It took me a little while to get the incantation down, but after I memorized it, I could even do it with just my staff, it was amazing! And actually, I got some extra practice today…”, she blushed, and turned to face Shadowmeire, “Aeris, this is Shadowmeire, I met him by the river today. He doesn’t remember much, but he seems like a really nice guy, he just needs some help. Is there anyway we could let him stay?” Those big innocent eyes had no effect on Aeris, if anything, he seemed to become a bit sharper at the mention Shadow had no home.

“I have no qualms with it. However, he has to go through the same test the rest of the people who stay here go through. In your case, it may help you to remember some things. First though, let us eat. He took Shadow by the shoulder, and led him through a doorway on the left side of the podium.

Since im tired i probably wont be that nick picky…

i really liked your choice of words and the flow in the first paragraph for this one. And the overall presentation looks good, much easier to follow. Also i like that we’re starting to see distinct personalities develop a little more, the penultimate paragraph alone allowed me to see a little how Elanors mind works, telling me she is still naive - but considering she’s a child its a little refreshing

Also im really curious about this test now, so good cliff hanger :stuck_out_tongue:

lets see…constructive critique… well for now i cant think of any but i’ll re-look this over in the morning when i’m more awake and edit it should i think of anything

Perhaps you could use a different word instead of small when describing the outside of the cathedral.
When describing the red carpet you could also use twisted and snaked, although what you used works just fine.
Other than those two things I can only see minor spelling errors and I don’t feel like picking them out right now.
Looks even better than the last 2.
