Well maybe we have shops of different sizes so you have maybe 3+ chests in each shop.
Yeah I think they should be able to be customized to a certain extent, maybe something above the shop itself to show quickly who’s it is kinda like the old makret where people put the first letter or the most prominent letter in thier names. Although that could obviously lead to a problem. Idk, maybe we try it out and monitor it and make sure it continues to look nice.
So the rental fee, this is where the different sized shops would come in, bigger ones will be charged but the.smallest size wont so its kinda like a freemium model. Or even ones closer to the entrance cost more as they will be viewed more often. I don’t really have an opinion on the fee other than the fact that for per month or week or whatever we will have to get a plugin for autocharging players. So maybe we should offer both a large upfront free or a smaller re-occuring fee.
Well depends how much room we have tbh, so payment will also come in here possibly bidding for spots if really necessary. 50 sounds like a fairly reasonable amount so I don’t think we will have any problems immediately but potentially when we start advertising it could become a problem, unless like I said we have bidding for spots.
These are all my opinions and sorry for spelling mistakes I wrote this on my phone. For you grammar nazis don’t comment on my run on sentences.
Currently each shop has 5 chests in them. Should the shops be bigger?
I agree with Sipjca. We should have many larger ones near the warp, with the rest split into smaller shops. The big ones should have a recurring rental fee to ensure rotation of active players.
Should shops be customizable - allowing players to modify the look and layout?
Indeed! I would say this should include the walls and ceiling as well. Basically, the block radius of the larger ones are theirs to do with. The small ones may not be altered. A part of why they are free.
As there are only 50 shops, should players be charged for them?
I think 20 large and the rest small should be enough.
Do we need more than 50 player shops?
Probably not, but it should be easy to add more. I worry the place may become too big and thus, not interesting.
There are currently:
FIRST FLOOR
2 extra large shops - 221 squares
4 large shops - 132 squares
4 medium-large shops - 57 squares (in each corner)
16 medium shops - 35 squares
4 small shops - 15 squares
LOWER LEVEL
20 small shops - 15 squares
I can’t see anyone ever using those massive shops
This is a first attempt at shop pricing:
FIRST FLOOR
2 extra large shops - 221 squares - 300 a month
4 large shops - 132 squares - 200 a month
4 medium-large shops - 57 squares (in each corner) - 60 a month
16 medium shops - 35 squares - 50 a month
4 small shops - 15 squares - FREE
Really I thought every month is reasonable, I mean that’s around every 30 days, tbh many people do not play on the server that long in the first place, and obviously we don’t want to keep a shop that has no stock in it for an extended period of time. In reality 3 months is a long time, but maybe there should be an option for that but 2.5x the price as the permonth one, so as you pay foe it longer you get a discount.
I meant have the rent per month option, but also have a rent for 3 months option for (as you said) 2.5 times the price of 1 month. that might encourage people to stay on the server if they have to keep a shop stocked for 3 months.
1/2/3) Answering all three, I think that shops should have a plot of land the the owner/rentee can build on. The number of chests would vary by how much they want to pay. Buying the plot would be a flat fee of somewhere around 75-150 per chest, and renting would be 10-25 per chest per (week/month), payable in advance or as the limit runs up.
I would stick with fifty unless we need more, in which case we can make a market2
I think that the idea is that we get to rotate users in these shops so they stay active. Who wants to pay for a space that is not profitable? 50 should be good for a long while.
