i don’t see the resemblance seeing how minecraft is a game vs xbox live being a service

I don’t believe MS will be able to CHARGE for future updates. Legally speaking, they would be screwed. The agreement we all got when we bought MC promised that all future updates would be free. Thus, the main game should be safe.
Official modpacks like FTB on the other hand… may be interesting AND charged for. I have no idea what this will mean for the fan created mods and content. It should be safe.
Came on with all of the commotion going on with Mojang being purchased and all.
Honestly, at this point… I think all we can do is hope for the best. At $2.5b, Microsoft will want to earn back that money… that’s a given. It’s just a matter of how they decide to do it, whether it be Minecraft 2, a paid for mod API, or just using the rights for advertising. But I don’t think they would actively alienate and screw over all the players - that’s not how you keep a loyal and dedicated fanbase happy.
Just my two cents.

Not only do emeralds look good but the are rare so thats one of the resons why everyone wants them. Emerald armour has been requested since 1.6 ish, still not in the game though?!?!

Actually, I believe this was if you bought it in Alpha. I remember reading somewhere (Notch’s tumblr I think) that they changed the policy on this once they went into Beta.
