Well, last time there was a recommended build within the hour of the release, but this time the additions list is at leas as big as the bug list normally is. So it could be weeks.
Either way, we’re going into Vanilla mode (ie. no bukkit) to mess around with 1.8 until Bukkit is up to date

The trailer doesn’t show off the creative mode as much as the other vid does
Passive animals will know flee from attacking players, as well as notch saying he will change the dynamics of the mobs in a “secret weekend project” (i do not know if that does or doesnt mean minecraft 1.8 will come out on september 8th or not considering it could be 1.8+ update)
Ok im bumping this… Jeb recently stated that 1.8 will NOT come out on september 8th but later for futher testing http://i.imgur.com/3Nnze.png <-thats the new .png folder on another note. Im still gonna check my comp on september 8th anyway though (i thought it would be akward to mod this into my other post sry)
This is interesting… 1.9 will have the anti nether, NPCs, Mob bosses, New and finished biomes and a use for experience.

Did you know that 1.8 has animated chests? Doesn’t matter much in singleplayer, but it’s pretty neat in multiplayer.
