before i say anything on this topic - I know close to nothing on the specifics and functionality of running Project City Build and what goes on in the server’s guts, so don’t rip into me if my suggestions don’t match/correlate with how PCB works. This is merely an idea and an open thought, so take it with a pinch of salt.
I was thinking earlier today, as I was building my roman-age city, of the possibility of a PCB map with only medieval/older-age structures. throughout my time on the creative map, and other PCB maps too, I have seen builds like /warp cathedral and /warp elric, and some other structures that emulate buildings from far older times than contemporary/modern buildings that take up the majority of buildings on PCB.
I can’t help but feel like these buildings clash with each other when I see a castle next to a skyscraper, being so close to each other. But that isn’t the only reason why I think it’s a good idea to have a separate map.
it adds variety and diversity to building types, it adds more building space to the server, it neatens the building spaces, it keeps the world’s buildings in a consistent timeframe, and some players may have a stronger point in older age buildings as opposed to contemporary buildings. It may also encourage newcomers onto the server if an older-age style map varient is addressed to them.
Maybe the map could be a custom map made from WorldPainter, that’d be nice.
But again, this may be impossible to do for the PCB team (bless them all) or there is something that prevents this kind of thing from happening. I just felt like I had to address this thought, but take it as just that - a thought.
