So I thought I should inform those of you who are still uninformed about it, it seemed a little bit unfair to leave you out on all the fun.
A lucid dream is, at it’s core, a dream in which you are aware of the fact that you are dreaming. You are conscious, but not awake. This alone fun, as you can explore the dreamworld in full detail. All forms of sensory function in a dream, from seeing the world around you to feeling the air and the ground beneath your feet.
Not only that, you are also able to control the dream to a certain degree. Flying around like an idiot and shapeshifting, for example, are some of the very basic things one can do in a dream. Literally everything you can imagine is possible.
The best thing is that this is a skill one can learn. Ain’t that awesome? Anyone can do it, as long as you work hard and believe in yourself (a good mindset is surprisingly important)!
MY head is so fuxed up that any dream is horrifying at its core. They are usually warnings of things to come of reflections on my past.
And then there was the time i tried Lucid Dreaming, and everything backfired. I woke up after the sensation of one of my swords levitating and sinking itself into my guts. Had the cold feel of the steel and the warmth of the blood streaming all over my body. I woke up doubled over screaming my ass off in sheer pain, and then about 10 minutes later it was gone.
It can be quite scary sometimes, yeah. I once smiled in a lucid dream, and I felt my facial muscles move to create the smile. Despite said muscles not actually being there. Freaky!
As for not having many dreams, you do. It’s just that most people are shit at remembering them. Which is something you can train too.
Ok, THAT is scary. I believe that you experienced a night terror, and quite a horrid one at that. I have never had these kind of visions, they are quite rare.
I’ve had dreams where I know I’m dreaming, and I;m screaming to myself to wake up. Mainly in reaccuring nightmares… If that’s what a lucid dream is like, then nooooo thankksss
You can become lucid more easily during nightmares, in fact I wish I had more just for that purpose. When you become lucid, you can turn the entire thing around. Tell whatever is attacking you to stop, change the plot of the dream, or just ignore whatever negative thing is going on.
Hahahah…i lucid dream quite alot, because most of my dreams are nightmares or night terrors. its made worse because i am also aware that my body is in a state of sleep paralysis.
so i spend the entire lucid dream scared shitless throwing myself at the walls of my mind knowing the only way i’ll ever wake up is if i can just get my body to move, even if my fingers twitch just a little.
so yeah to those of you who can enjoy them and make a good experience out of it, awesome : heres a hint to realizing you are dreaming - you cannot turn a light on if it is off and vica versa (or at least that’s how it is in mine) is there anything you do to see if your dreaming or not delta? xD
The only dreams I am lucid with are dreams that are giving me signs, like very specific ones. It’s not that I’m scared when I wake up, but I usually wake up from detailed dreams very worried and constantly think ought to see a psychic and have them interpret my dreams for me, even if I already have a sense what they’re warning me. I haven’t seen one yet cause the cheapest one around is $45 for a 15 minute visit, and … ya expenses.
But just as an example of these detailed dreams that give very specific speculation are:
-In one dream this week, I am sleeping and I woke up to a chipped tooth, which led to me messing with it a little and it taking out all my teeth as a result. Creeped out as hell…
-In another dream this week, I was an intern nurse at an ER and I was with 3 other pro nurses in the room. The room was very dark and the other nurses I was with were all dressed in a nun-like fasion. On this raised kind of bed was a woman. For some reason I had in mind she was the blessed mother Mary. She was laying on it and asked in a monotone-scared kind of voice "Are you going to burn me alive’ and without any response, one nurse poured gasoline from her feet to face and from her face back to her feet and another nurse set her on fire. The fire went strait up her body and that’s when I woke up…It was pretty intense.
-This ones not scary but I feel its worth mentioning because its a bit humorous. This morning I woke up super early and went back to sleep for about 3 hours and was dreaming I was a music video director for KPOP group Girls Generation… (Why THEM??? I HAVE NO IDEA … I haven’t listened to them in ages :s ), anyway we were on this dock on a lake, and they were singing Taylor Swift’s song “22” in Korean. Mind you I’ve never learned Korean and I don’t understand a spec of it, but it’s just weird that I had a dream where a famous foreign group was singing a popular English song in a completely different language I don’t understand.
This reminds me of some dreams I’ve had before. The type that are nightmares but aren’t particularly scary, just weird.
Example one: This is from many many many years ago.
Wake up, see a T-Rex casually chilling at the top of my stairs and I’m like “oh shit” and run past it. For some reason my friend is suddenly there, and we hide in a cupboard. Somehow, a Triceratops is also in the cupboard but we give it a packet of biscuits and it agrees to help us not die, oh and it can talk. Standard. So yeah, it tells us to hide under a cabinet while it has a chat with the T-Rex to distract it and convince we aren’t there. I woke up when it started sniffing under the cabinet. Wat.
Example two: Somewhat recurring in a way.
Various settings - out for walk with parents/in house alone when it gets broken into/etc.
The main aspect of the dream is guy with a knife or gun or weapon threatening to kill me, but I talk to him somehow completely calmly like “ah come on, I’ll just show you where some valuable stuff is and you can have that. No robber really wants to kill anyone, that will just get them in more shit, right? Oh, can you not steal that? I kinda like that, have this instead.” or something similar. Then the guy is just like “Meh, you seem alright, I’ll go along with this, makes my life easier. Thanks dude.” Also wat.
Dreams are weeeeeeeeeeeeird. The word weird also looks incorrect to me, fuck you brain.
Some song lyrics seem fitting to this whole thread: “I’m not insane, I’m not insaneeeeee. I’m not insane, I’m not… not insane.”
Exactly. I tried to learn how to, even did the little ‘Am I awake?’ test by making an A on my hand. So, managed to make a dream where I did that, only to fly into a waterfall, then wake up and not remember most of the dream. It was freakin’ weird… I was at my summer camp, which was, for some reason, floating in the center of Niagra Falls and I somehow grew bird wings and flew into the 'Falls…
hahaha reading other peoples amuses me, particularly your t-rex one liam, talking triceratops ftw… and cherry the one with the gasoline is like whaaa o.0
well since you guys have shared yours…
my nightmare/terror lucid dream is a recurring one i’ve had for years >.< it really wont be anything special, i’ll be in my room, in bed - or wherever i chose to sleep that night(sofa, floor whatever i get bored and move around) and i wont be able to move in most of them and even though its pitch black in my room i’ll be able to see them. the shadows reaching towards me along the walls and ceiling.i try to scream so bad every time but my voice wont come out. always manage to wake myself up before they reach me. i get a very bad feeling that something horrible will happen if they do get me…that feeling lasts a while even when i wake up.
in the ones where i can move im fleeing through my house but all the exits are locked so i try to scare them away by turning on the lights - which of course don’t work in my dreams manage to wake up rom these ones a liiittle faster thank god.
so yeah. if i ever never wake up. the shadows got me
if anyone has any tips on how to make my dreams fun instead of terrifying id love to hear them xD
For me, thinking about positive things before going to sleep makes me not have nightmares. This will probabbly sound weird to most, but sometimes I just think about anime, or manga, or my towns/cities on PCB. xD
I can’t remember any vividly, with the exception of a set of dreams that i had when i was in highschool. The first dream i was standing on a pier with my parents. It was dusk and the twilight was starting to settle in. Suddenly, everyone around us started screaming and running for the shore as fast as they could. The sky turned red, and i looked up to see a huge meteor falling down into the ocean There was a huge tidal wave, must have been like forty-sixty feet high when i looked over my shoulder and saw it rushing me. I felt the water pull me back out and then i sprung awake.
The next one was obviously a sequal. It was me and a group of friends from College standing in a clearing. It wasn’t evening, but it was still dark outside. we were talking about splitting up and going somewhere to hide out. I wasn’t sure what was up so i just followed a group. We got to my buddy’s house and it was all boarded up, and was chared on the outside but everyone was just ok with that so i went inside. Stars and meteors were constantly filling the sky with streaks of fire. someone was on the roof with binoculars watching the street. As we got inside it was ransacked, wet, graffiti on the walls.
About 15 minutes after getting there we all heard this horrible noise like a high pitched screech and everyone scattered. i follwed my best friend at the time, Danni, and we ran into some huge… idk wtf my mind made of it. It was horned and was stitched up with sallow skin and a overbite, a black beard and orange eyes. It picked Danni up with a hand, and thrust a dagger into her. Thats when i woke up that time.
The last one i was alone near a port in a walled city, cloaked, and had a small wood hammer that was soaked in blood, i stole some keys and took a boat outta the city, but i forced myself outta this dream and i forgot the rest.
The reason i have alot of these though is i study demonology alot… so yeah. it does that to you.
Last year part of my biology unit was regarding lucid dreaming, I managed to master my dreams about 10 times, most of which involving me building things really quickly with my mind like simcity or something or winning the lottery, I gave up though, because the steps involved to getting a dream lucid is far too hard for me.
I had this kind of dream a few times, all the result of a certain induction technique. In the first, one of my molars fell out while I was asleep (kinda like a false awakening). In an other, the nerves still connected my face to the tooth, which ended up becoming a ball of pinkish organic yarn.
I’ve seen worse tho. Skinless man being fed into a hand cranked mincer, girl audibly crushed by a gigantic book. It doesn’t bother me though, I don’t mind creepy imagery.
