My mac is kinda slow with minecraft and I’ve always wanted to build a PC, so I thought I’d build one.
One of my friends at school recommended the AMD FX line of processors. Any ideas on good motherboards/graphics cards?
Also another friend wants to get into gaming and saw this computer, ‘as used by the yogscast’. Is it any good?

How much money are you willing to spend? What games do you want to be able to play? What resolution is your monitor.
Money wise, it doesn’t really matter but nothing exorbitent. I’m thinking a mid priced pc. My current monitor is a pretty rubbish one so I’ll be buying a new one. Game wise probably just minecraft for the moment but I’d like to use shaders.

Those are basically my parts, you could easily get cheaper elsewhere. You’ll need speakers, a monitor and stuff, but still great value.

Pretty good. Will run any game on high, monitor included is decent. If you want to build of course.

Do any of you run shaders? I was just wondering if jape’s spec could handle them.
Just so you know, both suggestions so far are overkill, Sip’s more so. There is no doubt they could handle shaders. Sip, that video card, a 760? geez, I use a 460 and IT is still overkill.
I put a 760 in-case he would ever expand to more games, but yea it is overkill for minecraft by far. A gts250 is fine for shaders. I figured build a computer basically for the next 4-5 years, maybe more.
What do you think was over the top with jape’s spec? I quite like the look of his.
Graphics
I just got myself a 760 and I love it. Runs BF3 on Ultra 60+ fps. Dominates everything else I have as well. I was actually considering a 770, but this was plenty enough.
I use a 650ti it handles all games that I throw at it - first time Max settings at least 40 fps+
I use an AMD Radeon HD 7700 series which runs most things on max settings with no issues. But I believe you’d need an AMD motherboard for it to work properly?
With the graphics card do you think downgrading from the XFX Radeon 7850 2GB to the 7770 1GB would cause any issues. What does the GB on a graphics card even mean anyway? This is from jape’s spec by the way.
No. 1GB is how much video ram is dedicated to processing video stuff. When it goes over that limit it starts to slow down a lot.

Just thought I’d say how awesome this PC is. Finally built it and it can run SEUS ultra shaders at 25fps no optifine. I can now finally play FTB because I have enough RAM!
