im pretty sure back in the day console was set up to ban anyone who placed/destroyed blocks around spawn because some greifer kept giving the IP to fellow greifers, but console wasn’t able to tell new players apart from griefers, so it banned all of them. I wasnt around at this time, so I have no idea if thats how it went down, but I know its something along those lines. I also dont know if this person was banned during that period or not. Maybe a SOP or an elderly staff member can confirm this?

I guess someone must have banned them via the console, rather than in-game. If it were automatic there wouldn’t be a reason attached - or at least not one as specific as this.
