Reason for Ban stealing from SMP
Reason to be Unbanned I should be unbanned because it clearly states in the survival spawn that you are allowed to steal from chests if they are unprotected. Yes it may be common sense to not steal from an active town but it’s still fair game and their chests were unprotected. If you’re going to ban someone for stealing from an active town than you should put that in the rules because not everyone is going to know. Also it states in rule #6 “unlocked chests are fair game, No complaints.” Which says nothing about stealing from towns which i didn’t even realize was active at the time it was empty and seemed fine to steal from since it was unprotected.

Hate to break it to you, but as a staff member, I have power of discretion (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discretion). You’re welcome to point out the rules and question my actions, but you will not throw the rule book at me, as if it is binding law. Yes, we generally enforce rules, but there is give and take.

It also says at the survival spawn ‘No griefing’ which is defined in our rule book (You received a copy upon joining the server) as “causing destruction upon work which is not your own, impersonating staff, or any other act with the intention of malice.” While you may not have intended to cause malice to the player who owned the chest/s, you’ve still stolen from and inconvenienced them.

You will receive a 24 hour temp ban. Locked.

Just to clarify, the rules at spawn do not say that you can steal from unlocked chests, but that they are uninsured in the event of someone stealing from them.
