Hi guys, I know I haven’t posted for a while. I’ve been super busy with GCSEs. I’m almost done! Just my sciences left to do. My exams will be over by 22nd June.
Anyway, I’d just like to report a problem that doesn’t seem to be affecting anyone else except my sister and I, because everyone else seems to be able to get on PCB just fine. But with us, our game immediately crashes every time we try to join a server or a singleplayer world. All minecraft servers seem to be online and fine so… is it just our computers?
We’ve done some research and discovered there’s recently been a Java update. Is this the cause of the problem? We haven’t been in-the-know recently because we haven’t played minecraft for a while. Can someone suggest what might be wrong? Should we just update Java?
Thanks guyz
EDIT: This is a screenshot of the crash report I get. It says right at the top that I joined the server, but then everything goes wrong for some reason? https://gyazo.com/dbdf133176fc5814d2a60ea651e5831e
Vexnorz was having similar issues, it’s a problem with your graphics card.
What worked for him was:
options > Video settings > VBOs : off [don't listen to what it said before], Vsync : on
If that doesn’t work, and you have 64-bit java (which you do, it said on your launcher), go to edit profile, check “JVM arguments” box, and change "Xmx1G " to "Xmx2G "
If neither of those work, mabye some love and affection is all your computer really needs. Mabye give it a hug? or read it a story? It might feel better then.
EDIT: ruby’s suggestions won’t be the fastest things to do, so I would suggest doing these ones first.
I looked up the specific error in the logs, and it seems to be due to a corrupted java installation. You should try reinstallingg it, and if need be reinstalling minecraft. However some people seem to have fixed it by doing what Vir said, so try that.
Okay I updated Java and now my game is fine… ish. This weird thing happens that if I join the server when the window is enlarged, it crashes. But if the window is small, it’s fine. (This doesn’t seem to make a difference for my sister, though. Sometimes it crashes, sometimes it doesn’t). So I think you may be right with it being a graphics card problem, but it seems like updating Java helped because at least it works a little bit now XD
I’ll experiment a bit and take your graphics card suggestion perhaps. Thanks guyz
Okay I took VirBinarus’ advice. The stuff with Vsync and whatnot were already how you said they should be, so I tried the other suggestion. I joined the server fine… with just a few minor changes to my graphics sarcasm
I think I’ll change everything back thanks XD
Also I know I have a crap graphics card because I use this laptop for general use, not hardcore gaming.
That screenshot indicates there’s something wrong with your graphics card. Try uodating rhe drivers, and if that doesn’t work then it may be a fault with the video card itself.
If you recently updated to Windows 10, a graphics driver is probably to blame (There are a lot of compatibility issues). I myself got errors when I updated to Windows 10 and had to mess around with some settings to get it working.
The error itself is definitely indicating a java issue, so if following what Octo has said works, i’d stick with it and not mess with anything else.
hmm… my sources seem to be a bit unreliable try doing whatever got you those awesome shaders and turning VBOs on.

it’s not a windows 10 issue, this problem is happening for people playing 1.9 on win7 too.
It’s not really indicating a Java issue, Java’s just the one who has to break the bad news, the graphics card is to blame.
I’ve had windows 10 for a while and this hasn’t happened before. Mind you, it does update frequently. My sister has windows 8 and has the same issues. I think we’ll be fine for now, since it mostly works if you join a server with the window NOT enlarged, THEN enlarge the window and it’s fine. Kinda weird XD but it does sound like a graphics card thing. Updating Java did help though.
Also I don’t think I have a dedicated graphics card like AMD. I just have Intel, which I know isn’t so good for gaming but as I said I mainly use my laptop for general purpose.
If anyone can give me advice on exactly how to update my drivers it would be appreciated. I’ve done a little research and I think my drivers might update automatically? I’m not sure. I don’t know much about graphics cards :'D
