Female members of the Australian Builders Labourers Federation march on International Women’s Day 1975 in Sydney
Today, March 8th, is International Women’s Day. Since 1975, the United Nations has celebrated 42 years of advocating for equal human rights. This year, the theme for International Women’s Day 2017 is “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030”. Although I am a male, I support human rights. I feel that it is important for society today to recognize the effort women have made to make the world a better place to live in.
I love this! Not every male, but there have been times where men have laughed in my face saying I cannot go and join weight-lifting because I am a girl. That I could not achieve what I want for my future because I am just a girl and it is unusual for a girl to do such a thing. And in return, I laugh right back.
I do not believe that women lack rights. We have so many rights and have fought long and hard for them. But I do believe that women are still looked down upon and that is just trifling. So it is good to see this post because sometimes you forget that not everybody is an ignorant asshat.
