To everyone on PCB:
I wanted to inform you all that I will soon have to leave for a period of time. From 20MAY2013 to 15JULY2013, I will be conducting a summer training assignment as the OPFOR to USMA’s CLDT.
Since I doubt any of you have any idea that what I just said:
USMA (my school): The United States Military Academy
CLDT: Cadet Leadership Development Training (Summer training for the rising cows/firsties [juniors/seniors])
OPFOR: Opposition Forces
What this boils down to is that I will be part of a group that runs around in the woods attacking the seniors as they try to operate a base and conduct missions in the field over the summer. Our job is to play as the enemy, waking them up in their sleep with gunfire and ruining all of their plans while getting training from some Special Forces guys… should be a fun time. However, sleeping in the woods clutching an M4 doesn’t exactly lend me the capability to log into minecraft. Thus, while I am serving on the OPFOR assigment, I will not be able to access PCB in really any way, shape, or form. Unless I get like, super lucky, or something, but I doubt it.
My activity may decrease as my departure time gets closer, due to finals, closing my room out so the New Cadets can arrive for basic in July, and preparing to leave. I’ll probably be able to log back in sometime late june, but sparsely, considering my parents don’t have internet back home, and I’ll either have to tap into my girlfriend’s wifi or find a library. Nonetheless, going to miss you guys while I’m gone, and I wanted to let you know what was going on rather than just vanishing into the mist without a trace.

i hope your not MIA for to long and can come back ASAP, but in the meantime we will keep it on the DL so that Nek wont demote you. and be sure to BYOB when you comeback cause we will all be ROFL drunk at a MC bonfire.
Lol. I’m glad that the CoC will recognize my MIAD while i’ll be cruising on LMTV’s or rollin in my IBA and ACH, making sure that I don’t get given away by IR tabs. Especially if there’s an FTX. It’ll be a good chance for PT and some prep for CFT. Might learn some stuff for PE300 if i get lucky, but all the same, screw DPE.
Still not sure if it’s ACU or BDU and whether or not we’re taking the FLC. Lookin forward to dem MRE’s.

MRE - Meals ready to eat. Those things are freaking good! Try for the pasta ones!
I got to do to an exercise very similar during Warrior Week in Basic. We were the ones being attacked by our instructors though. Watch out for grenades thrown into your barracks or people dressed in full camo. Sleep in your BDUs so you can be ready on a dime. Well, that will be you attacking, so you get the really fun part.

IR tabs are just Infrared tabs located on the shoulder of an ACU (Army Combat Uniform). They stand out very well to anyone using a device capable of seeing it.
As I said, some are West-Point-Specific. CFT is Cadet Field Training, another event I will be on from 08JULY to 26JULY.
I thought LMTV was Light Motorized Transportation Vehicle, but Its apparently Light Medium Tactical Vehicle. I Haven’t rode on one since last summer, and the cadre for basic never really spelled out alot of the acronyms.
IBA: Individual Body Armor
PE300 is our Combatives course taken during our cow/2nd class cadet/junior/3rd year at USMA
DPE: Department of Physical Education/Department of Pure Evil
FLC (pronounced Flick): Field Load Carrier, I think. Its a vest that pouches can be attached to (ie; magazine holders, grenade pouches, canteens, etc).
Most of the others I think you got right. As for MRE’s, the pasta ones usually are good. The vegetarian ones specifically often come with candy.

I’d love to try something like that. But perhaps less straining side for us non-military folk. My friends brother is currently doing his basic training stuff.

So, an update: I’m not gone yet. Aaand I’m not sure when I will be gone exactly. Probably about a week from now.
My job got switched up, so I’m not needed for OPFOR this week. I’ll pop my head in a bit when I can.
So, We’re back from the field. Currently staying in the bays at Camp Buckner and using the wifi there. May be able to pop my head in over the next few days. I’ll be home on the 17th, and still working out what ill do there, seeing as how my parents at home lack internet.
