I think that an IM would be cool to have on the site. You know to talk in real time to each other…

Andy as far as I understand he doesn’t want something like irc because its a little heavy and is in only one window, I think he wants its so you can chat with anyone who is on the site itself with a sidebar or something as a chat window if that makes sense.
what sip said, plus the way the IRC is set up it uses the global and the server chat, makes my comp lag. and not everyone goes on IRC. wich makes me sad ;(
We have a PM function, and a chatroom for IRC. I fail to see the point in adding ANOTHER type of communication exclusively for 1on1 conversations.
Add people on Steam or MSN or something. If someone is on IRC you can PM them on there too.

If the webpage is slow loading or something then there are probally a few decent irc programs out there where you can join the chat without opening firefox IE crome etc, the server and the irc name is : gameconnect.nl.eu.gamesurge.net #projectcitybuild
If you find a decent widget or gadget or sidebar tool for this then post it up =D other people might want it too =]
