thank you! point of this project is generally to make a PC system that is opposed to two of those that exist right now.
First one is Microsoft way of thinking: so just parts like GPU or RAM to be replaced u need to open a case, be sure what part that is and if u can stick it that way, and if it fits, and if rest of your components will really work with them, does it take too much energy or not, etc.
And there is also Apple philosophy that sais simply “get your hands out of our machines, only we know how to do this” so you cant change parts.
And there is my idea, that sais that we could just have a box with parts that have certain shapes cut inside. They are part of a case, and when u need to buy new, and swap those parts, you just click that shape on case, it goes out, without opening anything in case, and then u put there same shape just new, maybe faster or overall better. Simple as that, two simple actions, put it there, and forget about it. Idea is simmilar to those newborn kids toys that are like boxes with holes, where kids can put only fiting shapes inside.
In theory a good idea, however implementation would likely become quite messy. The way PC’s are right now is perfectly fine for most people, the only problem being it is hard to know what is compatible with a pre-built PC such as a Dell or HP, because of proprietary parts. If you build the PC yourself however a tool such as pcpartpicker.com will take care of 90% of compatibility issues. Your idea has some merit, but I personally would prefer people taking just that little bit of effort to better themselves and learn how to do these sorts of things for themselves. Just some constructive feedback.
well its not only about picking parts, but also how to put them in there. most people that never had a PC (africa, some parts of india, china, bad korea, some poor countries in south america) and those would need as much help as they could get. also, there are people in europe, us, russia, japan etc, that had a stationary PC, but just bought new PC when old one was “too slow” - that is not how this should work at all. And u cant just tell people to lern such things, becouse they may not have time and will do get that knowleage. we would have to still use DOS if designers and enginers wouldnt start thinking about interfaces. we could lern how to use DOS, couldnt we?
“The way PC’s are right now is perfectly fine for most people” - that is why there is a questionary - i need to know if its fine, or not, but for now most people say that would most probably take this tech over standard case - around 70%
they do, and thats a reason why im tring to improve it, to make it as simple as possible. so u dont have to open case, think where to put it etc. and same goes for cpu, other PCI/E cards, and hard drives. just all in one case, done as it should be done long time ago.
