How to jumpstart the economy

As of right now everyone has +/-$100 and it wont change unless people donate. Because the lack of importance of momey, people have been trading. This is fine nut it can lead to unfair transactions. I knlw chest shops are not working right now, but the faster we can get those up, the sooner the economy can really grow. Along with the shops we can get reasources easier, and grow our towns and homed faster, too. I think the survival spawn can be a good place to set up a terary market of sorts to buy/sell basic materials like wood, dirt, food, etc.

The only reason I took the chest shops away, was because the plugin is currently buggy and broken.

I don’t like shops. Takes away the fun of actually, well, playing the game normally. I don’t see how it can be fun to just buy whatever you want with little to no work. Sell a crap ton of rotten flesh, reeds, etc, or vote, and you’re suddenly rich.

I agree with liam this time round. I personally enjoy the bartering aspect that a more vanilla server provides. If we could find a chest shop plugin which traded items that would be awesome. Like, left click the sign to buy 40 glass. That 40 glass would go into your inventory and in return let’s say 64 sand gets taken from your inventory. I think when we start bringing in money, items lose their value. If you have to give something up to get something back it makes you treasure what you have even more.

Yes a trade plugin would be awesome, and perhaps we could adopt gold as a vanilla currency?

I had an idea the other day to start using gold and emeralds as currency. Making a block of emerald $9 one emerald $1 and making a good block a half dollar ingots a dime, and nuggets into pennies. We could base an economy like that, however, I’m fine helping people out or bartering honestly

Or… One diamond = 4 gold = 4iron
1 4 16
This exchange rate has been around for a long time, and it’s pretty fair I’d say.

Personally I prefer bartering to pretend currencies or a money system, especially of item which you actually use and can find mining quite easily.

I agree with Anj. I trade a lot of stuff and we help each other I see No problem atm except maybe Saddles. which can be a problem when every new members wants one. we could put those up for sale or trade.

I’d like to suggest that if we do go the bartering way, we set up a forum where people can post trades and also perhaps get honest opinions about an objects worth. For example you could post to say “I have 50 glowstone I want to trade for 10 quartz” or “I have 50 stacks of cobble, make me an offer” etc. as a platform for trading.

I for one appreciate a market. We are, as our name states a place to build cities. It is a lot easier to build cities with markets than bartering.

That sums it up for me xD I agree with Ka.

i has lots of horse stuff for sale but i could be willing to trade them instead  because i like the idea of bartering

I personally like the chest shops you use the money you earn from your chess shop to go and get other things such as if you sell a hundred cookies then you could buy one diamond stuff moves people buy and sell and I find it all very interesting so many people think that there should be more trading in the game but people like me are not very verbal in the game itself and we become poor because of how it’s all done if you’re not a fast typist or a good speller than you can get by the chest shops offer an alternative to barter why you think we went away from trading and into a monetary system in the first place maybe the admin should have a shop where people can sell things like dirt and sand for a very low price but if their industrious enough they can get enough money to get a chest shop that sells something good for instance on the old map I got fairly rich by having a chest shop that sold diamonds for $50 now on this map I’ve a chest shop that sells diamonds for $40 because people can get a free diamond sell them for 50 buy a diamond sell it for 50 make 10 it’s just good common sense and if you have an issue with the treasure such as diamond becoming worth less and less than put a minimum of the price or find out a way to boost the demand
