Hello,
I was wondering if we could change guests getting the ability to edit stuff.
I had a guest chop down some trees for me, and he did…however he planted all the saplings which basically spammed huge trees everywhere. Besides that, I later found ugly tunnels he made nearby. None of this is really greifing because it didn’t mess with anything I built. I just think guests should have to become members before being able to edit stuff.
I understand what you mean, but I don’t think that would have solved the problem you had. If he had signed up and done the same things, what would have changed?
Even so, I can see some merit in having people sign up before they can build. It can weed out people who don’t know how to check their own e-mail. Discuss?
For some reason, a good bit of people have trouble signing up on these forums. Whether it’s because they truly can’t check their email, or because they misspelled something, or because it’s their first time using forums - this might cause a little more harm than good, especially for players that are put off by the fact that they can’t register and therefore can’t build.
And then there’s the fact that they could do the same exact damage after they sign up as Kyle mentioned.
TL;DR Might do more harm than good.
Honestly, if I was searching around servers for somewhere to play, and found one which was good but I had to sign up to use, I would most likely just leave again.
Plus your town is quite a far way away from spawn. The only way a guest would have made it there is if someone teleported them as they don’t have access to the warp command.
If I were trying to find a server, having to sign up wouldn´t discourage me, but I know that is not the case with the majority of players.
