Gangnam Style

PSY - GANGNAM STYLE (강남스타일) M/V

Here is the meaning of “Oppan Gangnam style” once and for all:
The word “oppa” (literally older brother) is an informal title like
“daddy” and “mommy” in English. This title, “oppa,” can be used only by a
girl when she calls out to or talks to either (1) her real older
brother in her family, or (2) a male friend slightly older than she is
(not older than, very roughly, 10 years, in which case the title
“a-jo-ssi,” literally uncle, would be more appropriate). For the second
use, the older male friend does not necessarily have to be her
boyfriend, although he can be. “Oppa” conveys a sense of warm
friendship, so all Korean guys love to be called “oppa” by younger
girls–especially by those they find attractive. As for what the
difference between “oppa” and “oppan” is, “oppan” simply means “oppa
is.” So “Oppan Gangnam style” means “(girls!) Older brother is Gangnam
style,” and Gangnam is the richest district in Korea full of expensive
condos many of which are well over US $2 million dollars.
Also, just in case some of you are curious, as for titles boys use, boys
similarly use the title “hyung” (literally older brother) to call out
to or talk to either their real older brother or a male slightly older
than they are and likewise use the title “nuna” (literally older sister)
to call out to or talk to their real older sister or a female slightly
older than they are.
The reason Koreans use titles instead of names even when talking to
people slightly older than they are is that Koereans are heavily
influenced by the philosopher Confucius. He taught people to respect
older people because older people, in general, possess more life
experiences and thus more wisdom than younger people do. This age
etiquette shouldn’t sound strange to people of western culture either,
for even westerners, in general, think it is rude for a child to call
his or her parents by first name. Koreans extend this age etiquette to
all spheres of relationships in which any age difference exists. Even a
mere one-year difference matters especially among students and the
younger one must refer to the older one using a title, or just as
commonly, by using a name followed by an appropriate title (for example,
Jason oppa! Paul hyung! Mary nuna! John a-jo-ssi!).

London Korean cheer song

Lyrics in bottom left hand corner!

okay?

got bored :l

Yup. Was probably one of the most amazing videos I’ve seen.

I. Absolutely. Despise. This. Piece. Of. Garbage. Music. Video. That. People. Make. Too. Big. A. Deal. Of.

It’s not a piece of garbage, it’s better than the other shit we see on TV, doesn’t propose sex, violence, drugs, or alcohol. Has an upbeat tempo and is an all around great song. If you hate it I don’t see why

Well I was entertained by them both. Not something I am used to seeing.

Here is something I was sent that I liked. I even found it with subtitles

Machine Civilization-World Order (English Subtitles)

A quote from Psy:

I actually like it, and I hate everything.

Same here to be honest. It also amuses me xD

ayyyyyy sexy lady opp opp op opagangnam style XD

[size=small]I seriously would like to throw this song in the garbage. I liked this song before there was a music video, before it was a viral hit. I’ll admit that I’ve had an interest in kpop for the past 3 years, and for this song to be the first kpop hit in America simply disgusts me.

First off, Psy hasn’t been around much long. Plus he hasn’t trained as much as mosts other artists from korea (South Korea) Look at groups and people like G-Dragon, Wondergirls, 2NE1, Girls Generation … The list goes on. The big deal about music in South Korea is that when you produce music and then get into that business, you have to train for years.

For example: Katy Perry worked hard for the position she has now, but nothing she has done is actual training. She’s just lucky to have been discovered and get into the business right away. Now in South Korea, this concept is almost nonexistent. The group 2NE1 is a group of singers put together by the hit music company of Asia YG Entertainment. Though the 4 of them individually were discovered on their own, they had to train for 4 years! Yes Which means alhough they’ve been around for the past 3 years as famous public figures, they technicly have been around for 7 years and had to train to become better performers, music techniques and much more.

Basicly Gangham Style is just as popular as any song that you’ll see come from South Korea, however people dont realize that Psy didn’t train as much compared to other figures in the Kpop genre and that others deserve to be heard. As much as I despise this song’s popularity, I’m hoping it will at leats open doors to a lot of other people to get into Kpop. Seriously though, Kpop is a very interesting genre.[size=small]

I just like the song…

Actually I think Psy has brought more people to kpop if anything. I honestly don’t care about training if he’s good, and people like it. It just helps everyone out in the end. You are wrong that’s it just a popular as any song. There are numbers to show you that. 150+ Million listens/views is not standard at all, especially in the kpop genre. It could be just another song but it’s not. Opinions are opinions and this is mine.

It is a very catchy song Liam XD

hehe its almost at 200 mil ka xD

Indeed Kyle, that was very interesting to watch.
