Building Inspiration

When you are building in survival do you have a preset design in mind? Do you just build and design simultaneously?

Where do you normally get your design inspiration? Online? Real-Life? Other people’s build?

I typically see something I like on a server and then try to duplicate it adding my own personal touches.

Normally I just kind of put some blocks down and see what happens. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t.

I a big fan of candid building (meaning I don’t organising in advance). Especially when building towns.

As a history student at uni, I know that there cities grew without any strict organisation, at least european cities. So some people ended up in the end with strange plots and had to make the best of them.

The very first valandia was heavily build on the concept. So we had very narrow streets with were going in all directions. I loved it!

As for my building style, I’m very lazy so it’s sort of been standardised with time. But at least you can recognise all my buildings on the map!

Happy 500th post Guibo btw!

I usually build the complete opposite to guibo, planning the build for days before building it. But, I like to sometimes base my builds on real life structures.

But I will never build any any laborious, large builds. I’m best at interior decorating ;D

I get a small basic shape of a part of a wall (this is my large buildings, such as my mansion) and then go from there really :stuck_out_tongue:

I generally just start making shapes and seeing how I like it. If I like it, I’ll keep it. If it looks bad, I’ll just delete it. I never really plan a build on another map or whatever, or sketch it up, but I know some people who do that. Sometimes if I am trying to build something that looks real (like my Cadillac Escalade), I usually look on the internet, and then change it up a bit to my exact liking’s. 8)

Spontaneously. I sometimes see a building in real life or on the server with a feature I like, then try and add something similar to my builds.

When it’s in survival, it’s whatever looks good with the lay of the land. When Im in creative though, I think about buildings/the style that Im trying to build in and make it my own.

I have modern themes. I honestly kind of make different shaped boxes and stack them. Then I attach them
With walls and halls. XD

Ruby already knows this, but #FullYolo is the way to go with modern. Otherwise, I usually have a pretty good idea in mind.

Penguin let me know when I can hire you for some interior work!

I sorta start off with a wooden frame then build off that

i start with a main idea. change it at some points and then start to expand it and keep expanding it till i’m happy ( and i never am) example My old Steampunk town. took me 7 months to build and wasn’t even done

I usually only build when I’m motivated, and i usually just do random shapes then work off of there in a modernly fashion

I don’t plan per say, but I just fiddle with different combos in creative and then I think mmmm yum that looks good and I put it in survival. Sometimes I see buildings in real life that look to amazing not to make and I again fiddle around in creative until I can get some sort of part of the building nice and ready for continuation on survival. A prime example of my random fiddling is the building I live in in Alta Marie now.

For Survival I just go with it and hope for a good outcome because planning a building with a design in mind can be difficult to plan for if you keep having to go back n’ forth getting blocks that you need to finish what you’re working on. Usually though if I am in Creative though I wouldn’t need to worry about it and thus 70% of my builds are made using pre-made designs. I mix it up though and try not to have my towns/cities look like robots (in the sense that everything is made with a blueprint). It can be hard to get a build to look really nice in Survival which is why I save most of my builds for Creative.

Haha

I work off British time, and I’m available for 9-11 AM at weekends or 12-2 PM every day. Give me a shout when you want to meet up on the server

As for price, you can pay me 10 PCB dollars for every ten mins building time, as long as you provide the blocks I need.

I do the same lol. only it rarely ever works! XD

I look up images of things that I generally want my build to look like. Then I just try and see what looks best.

I do a mixture of these two.
