Andy's new PC

Andy is getting a new PC. Here are some parts we have picked out. It is primarily going to be used for heavy multimedia rendering (Maya, 3dsMax etc) and lots of video processing.

CPU: Intel Core-i7-4770 $342
Motherboard: MSI Z87 G45 $195
RAM: G Skill 16G (2x8G) DDR3 1600MHZ PC3-12800 CL10 (10D-16GBXL) $179
SSD: Samsung 250GB SSD 840 SATA3 2.5 $179
Power Supply: SeaSonic M12II 620W+ PSU a $125
Graphics: Gigabyte ATI HD7870 OC Ed $235
Hard Drive: Segate SATA3 2TB $95
Case: Antec TWELVE HUNDRED Full Tower Gaming Case $189

Total: $1539

Prices are in AUD and are much more expensive than what you can get in the US. What do you think of this build? What could you improve, keeping this around the $1500 mark. Use websites such as umart.com.au and MSY http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf for comparison prices.

Nothing is being overclocked, so I think the motherboard is a bit excessive and the case is probably a bit of overkill too.

Looks awesome!

Holy sheet bro

That looks awesome!

and then it was to be, that _andy would obtaineth a new pc, and never be heard from again, for the call of DOTA2 was too strongeth for his will to break himself from it…

If Andy only plays DOTA on that…

I basically changed a few things. I am very partial to that site, and it also has an AU version! I changed the GPU to a 760, because it has the performance of a GTX670, from last generation. It should be an improvement over the 7870 as well. Nvidia also has ‘CUDA’ and some of those 3D programs may take advantage of that power.

The case changed as well, since I like Fractal Design, as they look very classy.

Changed the motherboard for cheapness. It also seems like a fantastic board from what I saw, I can’t believe it was that cheap. The Power Supply is basically the same, it is actually made by Seasonic, it’s just that they didn’t have that specific PSU on the site. I would go with the normal Seasonic to be honest. Modular.

Honestly either way it’s going to be a solid build for sure.

ladies and gentleman! i present to you, the Greek language

Next time spec, just pm sip xD

I have the same case. Love it!

Nooo! Some of us like the geek talk! It is also the main point of this thread!

Yes. The language of the geekish poly-syllabricators.

=3

That RAM is out of stock. Any other suggestions?

Not specifically no. Just any other cheap RAM from a name brand. Maybe try Corsair, or cheaper Gskill? I’ll look specifically soon

While I agree they look good, I regret getting the 3000 for the build I did. Dem side covers.

The 3000 build quality is not the same as the other cases. I have worked with them and they are up to par with anything else.

The Define R4 however is definitely something I would consider.

I can give a thumbs up on the Define R4, I used it on my build. Great Airflow, tons of space to store any extra wires off of my PSU. Ive got the Arctic White instead of the Black, just because i didnt want a black case. Will use the case again for future builds.
