[size=12pt]Today marks the one year anniversary of Club Penguin closing its doors forever
[b]I just want you to keep this as a friendly reminder since Club Penguin played a big role in a lot of our childhoods, (maybe even yours).
Club Penguins first conception idea was back in the year 2000 when the creator was working on a game, when he looked over from his desk and saw a cartoon strip of a bunch of penguins making jokes at each other.
He then decided to create a game called “Penguin Chat” where you would become a penguin and would chat with other penguins while playing a game of British Football.
This over the years evolved into the game Club Penguin launched in 2005. by the end of its first year there were more than 15,000 registered Club Penguin over the years. Though the company faced financial hardships in the beginning. The company was eventually sold to Disney and by 2014 there were more than 200 million registered Club Penguin accounts.
but by 2015 there was a decline in sales from the previous years, though not drastic. There were still more than 230+ million Club Penguin accounts and millions of paid members, Disney decided it was time to pull the plug. In late 2016, the announcement was made by Disney that for the next year nobody could renew or purchase a membership, following that announcement, Disney announced Club Penguin would be shutting down forever on March 29th, 2017. The last few days of Club Penguin were grim, many servers were packed full, online riots formed to keep Club Penguin alive. Disney gave out free memberships to all accounts on the final days.
