1.8 and New Map Discussion

So what about items? Lots of people have really expensive stuff they bought from stores.

I say no items clean start, money is fine for donators tho.

I think only the most important cities and towns should be transfered but most should be left behind. Starting fresh on money and items would be interesting but I think maybe each player should be able to transfer a small amount of items

but my 4k monies :frowning: i worked pretty hard to get that, i dont wanna lose it, i dont really give two shits about items, because i can buy em with my money  but if i dont have my money then i cant buy them :frowning:

This may be hard to organize, but what about allowing the players a choice?

Either one doublechest to fill with items they want saved over, or a cap of 2000 credits (perhaps more?) given later.

I still say the biggest structures need to be moved. I would hate to lose so much time and effort myself. The structures aren’t being demolished for parts to give town owners an advantage. They can also be moved into position for Andy’s idea of a networked world.

i like the idea of a double chest, because i myself would not like to lose EVERYTHING, but it does give a fresh start for the update, while keeping stuff you would like to transfer, like your armor, tools, stuff you need to start over. money is easily re-earned, if you have the patience, so i dont mind getting back to 350 credits. and i agree that BIG landmarks like bigcity, forsyth, and other cities SHOULD get transferred, but if not, they can always be rebuilt.
EDIT: maybe we could use the warehouse?

I agree with Kyle and zak, i want to fill my double chest with redstone ^^

I agree with kyle and zak too

Agreed. Jhogg and I have spent SO much time on Fortress. I dont really care where it goes as long as it goes. I can handle losing the harbour no problem to keep the building and town.

Everyone could get a choice of the following:

5000 Credits.

4000 Credits and a small chest of materials and tools.

3000 Credits and a double chest of materials and tools.

Credits is way too much. Should be:

1000 Credits

700 Credits and a small chest of materials and tools.

350 Credits and a double chest of materials and tools

you cant buy much for 700 or 350 credits and some people have worked for months to get their items and buil their towns… it seems kinda unfair to give someone a maximum of 1000 credits…

Not at all. I would go with what ouhai said. If everyone could just re-buy all of their items, would you exactly call that a ‘fresh start’ ?

Will it be your choice which items you put in your cheest because it kind of souns like its a kit instead of your items that you had

I really like this idea of a fresh start. I’ll be getting high-speed internet back again soon, hopefully just in time for the 1.8 update and the switch-over. Now we can get all the benefits and erect new cities to trump those before with the new block types and other features.

hah, honestly i dont care vaslong as i get some monies

{reads 1/2 the thread}
I think that:

a) New map, new seed, no transfer except maybe the Spawn.
b) Warehouse, like last transfer? Only scale it down, like so::

  Guest- none
  Member- 1 small
  Trusted- 1 large
  Mod- 1 large & 1 small
  OP- 2 large
Admin- Whatever the heck they want

c) Monies. Maybe like others said, 350 apiece and donators get extra as advertised.

So while we’re on the discussion of new maps, I’ll just leave this here…

For the chest transfering warehouse what about donaters?

I’ve seen some amazing seeds but that mod tops em all.

Also I believe that We should start completly fresh but maybe have some sort of item or credit compensation for those with very detailed or large structures.

I think that stricter rules on town creation should be enforced. There are a lot of abandoned towns or a town that is just way to big.

Finally though I think we need to live up to our name and reclaim our spot of ‘Best Modern City in Minecraft’.
We should have it built on land around 10 blocks from bed rock so we can maximize height of the buildings. Having the city planned by roads with districts would be great.
