Want to start up your own town and have other members in the community live there? You’ve come to the right place. Below are some listed rules you MUST abide by if you want your town to be recognized as an ‘Official’ town of the server, and to earn your own /warp to your town.
1. Build out of sight from another town and/or other buildings. Make a tall 1x1 pillar and look around (have your render distance set to far!). If you cannot see any other towns or buildings then you may build on the plot of land. If you want to build near another town you need the permission of that town’s Mayor in order to start constructing.
2. Claim the land with a sign, issue up a perimeter so you have an idea of how big you want your town to be. Also be cautious of expanding your town in case you do. Don’t expand towards another players town or building.
3. Try to pick a theme for your town. (Example: Big City is literally a city, Steampunk is on the side of a mountain)
4. Establish some basic rules you want your townsfolk to abide by. They must be in compliance with the Server rules as well as your own rules for your town. Remember, fair rules will make your town more popular.
5. You need at least 5 active residents (aside from yourself) living in your town. Residents who already live in another town do not count.
6. You must have at least 5 houses, 3 buildings for decoration, and a message board that contains the name of your town, the Mayor, the list of residents, and any rules. Decoration buildings are defined as buildings that serve a purpose outside of living. Examples: An office, a forge, a greenhouse, etc. If more than one resident live in the same building (hotel, duplex, apartment complex) then you must make an extra house or decoration building for each resident that lives in the same building. For example, if 3 of your residents live in the same building, and 1 lives in their own house. Then you must make 2 additional houses or decoration buildings. **See bottom for more detailed information regarding decoration buildings.
7. Depending on the location of your town, your buildings must all be visible. If your town is on the surface, then any building underground does not count towards the required amount. The opposite is true for underground, underwater, and sky towns.
8. No boxed houses. Boxed houses do NOT count as buildings unless they are very well detailed and are approved by a Senior Op or Admin. So if you want boxed houses, you better be very creative with them to be counted. A boxed house is defined as a square house with completely flat walls and a flat ceiling. Aka, a box.
9. Lastly, you must get approval by 2 staff members Operator or higher. Your town will be judged and checked to see if the requirements are met and if the structures are created adequately. If it looks bland, poorly made, and/or generic, you will NOT get a warp even if your town meets the requirements. Hard work and creativity are both required for your town to be recognized. Without either of them, it won’t be acknowledged.
The town created will be permanent unless 1 of 3 circumstances occur.
1. If the Mayor of a town becomes banned from the server.
2. If the Mayor of a town does not log in for quite some time without notice (3 months at the minimal).
3. If all residents in the town either leave the town, leave the server, or get banned.
If any of these occur, then the Mayor will forfeit all rights of his town. If there are still residents in his town then there will be a discussion over who will become the new Mayor of said town. If there are no active residents in the town, then all buildings and structures will be open for either destruction or remodeling (With a Senior OP or higher rank’s approval) by anyone who wishes to claim it. Items in chests left behind by inactive players are to be moved by an Op or higher to a safe place either within the town or nearby it. Items left behind by banned players are forfeit to destruction. They may NOT be looted or considered ‘free’. They are to be destroyed by an Op or higher.
**I will better explain decoration buildings here for those who have more questions.
Sometimes it can be hard to determine what qualifies as a decoration building. One Operator might think it qualifies, another might not. But I will do my best to lay these conflicting thoughts to rest. A decoration building MUST be a building with walls and a ceiling and it must have a function that doesn’t involve living in it. It does not necessarily have to be a completely solid wall either, like for example if instead of walls you have fence posts stacked on top of each other on all corners and it is holding a roof up.
What counts as decoration buildings:
-Restaurant
-Office building
-Bar and/or Club
-Library
-Museum
-Town Hall
-School
-Cemetery (with housed crypts)
-Forgery/Smithing/Brewery
-Storage (can’t be small like a phone booth)
-Farm with a decent size storage shed. Or a farm in a building that could resemble a greenhouse. (Just a fence around a farm does not count, it must be completely inside a building on the surface)
What doesn’t count:
-Farm without a shed or building ontop of it.
-Buildings underground or underwater (Or vice versa if your town is underwater or underground, aka all buildings must be underground or underwater)
-A mineshaft entrance (for it to count it has to be on the surface, slightly big in size, and house things like workbenches, furnaces, and chests).
-Any shed or storage building that can be compared to the size of a phone booth. (Aka, 3x3 wide and tall with a mini roof. That’s just lazy and hardly decoration.)
-Statues and monuments
-Hotels, Motels, and Apartments with rooms for rent. If nobody lives in them and they are not up for purchase/rent then they will be considered decoration.
More examples to come.
