So uh, I think my PSU exploded… Something did anyway, and I’m hoping it was the PSU…
Gunna take it to the local repair shop tomorrow to check nothing else is fried and to hopefully get it all working again…
Best case scenario, I replace the PSU, take the computer home and everything is fine and dandy.
Worst case scenario, when the PSU exploded, it also fried everything else in the system. This would mean bye-bye Ouhai’s PC! And cos of money, I wouldn’t be able to get a new PC until the summer…
The only assumption that I could think of is that the PSU fried cos the CPU was drawing too much power as it overheated. Let’s hope the repair shop can successfully fix the PC
So 2 taxi rides and a 1 hour session later, everything is good!
Only set me back about £70 for the time and parts, and then £10 for a taxi.
The guy also cleaned out my cpu heatsink while it was there. It was very dusty…
For those interested, he’s fitted an OCZ-CXS500W PSU. It’s 500W, 220-230V, 5A, 50Hz. And apparently OCZ went bust, so the warranty that should come with it is void, but he kindly gave me a 1 year warranty with him.
