Why is this thread turning into anti-religous hate speech? I’m not even religious and I find this ridiculous.
This thread is supposed to be about your stance on LGBT rights and the likes, not hate crime. If you’ve said your two cents on the topic of this thread and have no further constructive input (particularly if it’s hate-fueled) please kindly fuck off and leave people to their own beliefs.
The church is for religion and if the church doesn’t believe in the gay marriage then they don’t have to marry them. I believe just because you tend to like the same gender should not take away legal rights however so they are technically not married in the eyes of god but in the eyes of the state. Make sense? Everybody should be happy with this conclusion because gay people are not harming you. And a word to my fellow Christians we should be trying to convert them to be Christians before we try to influence their sexuality because Jesus died for everyone whether they believe in him or not he already paid for their sins.
And yet you’re also being a dick by telling us we’re dicks for believing what we want. Us christians view it as a sin. Some people who do not believe in god view it as perfectly fine. Let people believe what they want, and don’t call them a dick for doing it. I know I have not been here in a while, and I happened to stop by when this topic was happening ,but when it comes to my religion, I feel the need to stick up for it. Have some respect, no more hate. The same thing goes for us christians, don’t hate on the people for believing whatever they want. I’ve shared my bit, I will kindly leave, and I hope there is no more haterade. I’ll believe what i want to, you can believe what you want, and we can get on with our lives, and have peace.
To be honest, I really dont give two craps. I treat others they they treat me and thats that. Gender or orientation shouldnt be a factor anymore. ITS 2015 and us americans are still bothered by this subject… If you dont believe in this subject then thats that, its your believe; I think what @TheOctopus meant was the situation where someone shoots them down because of their orientation. Its your opinion, but when someone doesn’t ask for an opinion that somehow might be negative against them, then it could be considered “dicky.” (Even when people know that its rude.) I know this is america and all and everyone has their own goddamn opinions and such, but why cant we all just be nice?? IS IT THAT HARD? Is god really gonna come down and shoot you with a lightning bolt for you witnessing someone that is of different orientation? The thing is, common sense. If someone is of a Different orientation, just be nice about it. YOU aren’t forced to be friends with them. Just have common courtesy. Ive known many gay people in my life that have been bullied due to their orientations by people of strangely strict religious beliefs. Just like that very cliche famous quote, “If you dont have anything nice to say, dont say it at all.” But again, its ok that you are not fond of these orientations, its just the way you express it or how you react to it. Theres my two cents.
EDIT: Locking this thread Tomorrow at 5PM MTN Time if no progress is shown or if it turns into a shitting contest.
I second you, Javi. I personally know some Christians who live in certain states (and some churches) who have faced vandalism (and in one case, attempted arson) to their homes and/or property from some progressive/LGBTQ rights groups (and any type of police report they attempt to file gets shut down due to local sentiments/political environment), so I’d just like to point out that respect goes a long way, and it goes in both directions.
And to the fellow Christians/social conservatives around PCB, I’d like to suggest that there is a fine line between saying a behavior is wrong and bullying/harassing a person. We should definitely be careful around this topic so as not to misrepresent our beliefs, yet at the same time, we should not compromise these principles if we are to represent them.
In short, discretion is key. And quite frankly, PCB isn’t exactly the ideal place for this type of discussion.
I’d like to thank everyone who has bothered reading my posts in this thread, simply because I don’t often have an opportunity to give my minority opinion (as Javi did say, it is 2015 - most people presume that others support LGBTQ rights, especially with younger people). It was also helpful to me to get a better view of the other side of the discussion as well.
What did you think this would turn into? This thread was doomed to become either a shitstorm or a circlejerk in the first place.
That’s exactly the point! Damn it, you figured it out.
Anyway, @Javi, I’m going to lock it now, there hasn’t really been any progress lately anyway.
Thanks for all of your opinions, it was much appreciated. I didn’t say this before because I wanted your honest opinions, but I did actually show this to my parents (they love you, @PrincessPanda XP) so thanks for making our day interesting! My family loves debate, so it was fun analyzing your responses!
