Any good recording program?

I was thinking about recording something, like the videos of PCB on our Youtube channel. I was wondering If anyone could tell me what that program was or if there are some other good ones. Also, It should be able to record sound. :stuck_out_tongue:

Fraps is usually the best. Can take quite a hit on your computer if you have a bad one though.

Movie maker is good for editing even though basic. If you want to step up it can cost you.

Fraps + Vegas movie maker pro 10 thingy = vidoes

Lol thanks. But does it record audio? :stuck_out_tongue:

Yup. Will record ingame sound, and microphone sound of wanted.

For free stuff, hypercam is pretty good.

The ones ive found best are of course fraps, wegames if you dont mind half quality video, and the one I have been messing around with lately is the recorder built into amd afterburner.

Fraps - High as hell quality (uncompressed) best around, Massive hit to cpu, Really large video saves (depending on resolution, at 1600x900 files saved 1.3mins is 4gb), costs unless you find… ways around it.

Wegames - Hard to set up with minecraft, alternative to steam but no where near as good, small impact on cpu, quite small files but only records at half quality (recording at 1600x900 will output a 800x450 file), Free

MSI afterburner - Sole purpose to overclock/monitor card performance with a recorder built in. small impact on cpu as video is converted on the fly by the gpu/cpu combo for good performance (I think), smaller file saves compared to fraps with a cost in quality (often unnoticeable when played side by side), Has a small purple spinning circle ‘watermarked’ on recorded files, easy to overlay something over it such as a avatar pic, Free

Maybe we should make a sticky topic that includes run downs of all the recording programs and video editing softwear we all have experience with? with pro’s, cons’ links for downloads ect.

[Edit] Its msi not amd, should work with most graphics cards I think

good idea fatso. But if my computer was quite slow, and had a high cpu, what would be the best recording program then?

fraps is brilliant, if ur worried about getting lag if ur gpus not too high end, just turn it down to half size screen ratio. You can easily get hold of a copy of fraps and it records windows sounds as well as external ones via microphone depending on what u set it to do.

ok thanks

But whats with the vegas movie make pro? is that like an extra program or add-on to make it run smoother? ;D

Its… gah where did that box go!

Oh I see, i got that name wrong, my program is called Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum Ver. 10
(Its not free, far from it)

Vegas is video editing. Also I forgot about afterburner, it should work for most GPU’s, infact I’m going to give it a go right now.

There is also DxTory, which is supposed to be quite good, though I have not tried it.

If you want dxtory, dont get the free one. It makes the video red and puts ‘Buy the full version of dxtory now’ in big letters at the top.
